What you'll learn
Learn how to recognise and respond to a cardiac emergency and provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Course content
Recognising an emergency · DRSABCD · CPR for adults, children and infants · Using an automated external defibrillator (AED) · Responding safely and effectively in an emergency.
Duration & delivery
2.5 hours face to face. Optional pre-course learning is available. The course is practical and includes hands-on training with an experienced First Aid trainer.
Certification
On successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, issued by ABC First Aid RTO 3399.

What you'll learn
Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults, use an evidence-based action plan to initiate a mental health first aid conversation, and provide initial support across a range of mental health problems and crisis situations. Participants also learn about barriers to help-seeking, treatments and supports, and self-care as a Mental Health First Aider.
Who it's for
Any adult aged 18+. Suitable for individuals, workplaces, and volunteer and community groups.

Face to Face: 2 × 6-hour sessions over 2 days.
Blended Face to Face: 5–7 hours self-paced eLearning + 4-hour face-to-face session.
Blended Online: 5–7 hours self-paced eLearning + 2 × 2.5-hour videoconferencing sessions.
Accreditation
Participants can complete a short assessment at the end of the course to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider). Accreditation is valid for 3 years.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

What you'll learn
Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in young people, use the Mental Health First Aid action plan to provide initial support, respond to mental health crisis situations, and help a young person access appropriate professional support.
Who it's for
Adults who work with, live with or care for young people aged 12–18 years, including parents, carers, teachers, youth workers, coaches and other adults who support adolescents.
Course content
Mental health problems and crisis situations affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, psychosis, substance use problems, suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury and other mental health crises.
Duration & delivery
Face to Face: 14 hours over 2 days.
Accreditation
Participants can complete the assessment after the course to become an Accredited Youth Mental Health First Aider. Accreditation is valid for 3 years.

What you'll learn
Refresh and build on your existing mental health first aid knowledge and skills, explore current research and practise applying mental health first aid across a range of mental health problems and crisis situations.
Who it's for
Current and Accredited Mental Health First Aiders who are eligible to complete the Standard MHFA Refresher. The refresher must be completed before your existing accreditation expires.

Updated mental health information and research · Revision of the Mental Health First Aid action plan · Mental health problems and crisis situations · More complex mental health first aid interactions · Opportunities to practise and strengthen existing skills.

Accreditation
Participants can complete the assessment at the end of the course to extend their Mental Health First Aid Accreditation for a further 3 years.
